Las Cruces {5.5.16 - 5.8.16}

Back in May we planned a weekend trip with my sister and her husband. We met half way between our places of residence in Las Cruces, NM. It was a weekend full of camp fires, games, smores, hikes and hearing the creepy sounds of missile testing. Very close to Las Cruces is the White Sands Missile Range. This missile range is where they tested the first atomic bomb. On the base they have a museum full of old missiles. It was really interesting. During the weekend we also visited White Sands National Monument. This place was awesome! We did some intense kite flying because the wind was so strong! It was a great weekend and we can't wait to get back together with them again!

Clearing the roads of sand not snow!!

I'm only standing there for scale haha I had to make this picture interesting for my geologist of a husband!

Driving through Cloud Croft we saw a ton of elk!

On the base of the White Sands Missile Range

This is the original mask of Darth Vadar! It was gifted to the base because the movie film and crew came to the base to record sounds of the missile testing to use in the movies! Pretty cool

While camping in these mountains we could hear the missile testing. It was kind of creepy. It sounds exactly as if T-Rex was stepping towards you in the Jurassic Park movies!

Colby has a big mouth haha

Ignore the look on my face, but the food was really good!
