I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas surrounded by family and friends! We sure have and the best part is, it's not over! We still have another week before school starts!
We wanted to take this opportunity to testify that Jesus is the reason for the season! Without Him, all would be lost. We are so grateful for our Savior Jesus Christ and for his teachings, atoning sacrifice, and resurrection. It is only through Him that all that is unfair about life can be made right. All will be resurrected, and if we repent, we may live eternally in His presence.
Here are some pictures of things we have been doing in Colorado!! We also played football of Christmas Eve and the weather was perfect because it never snowed before Christmas! We are going to play again on New Years Day!
Carston likes to wear glasses whenever Colby does.
The weather has been surprisingly nice! It only snowed a little bit once, and going outside has not been a problem.
We have gone shooting twice over the break. Almost everyone went the first time, and just the boys went a few days ago. Shotguns and .22s!
If you zoom in on this picture, you can see the clay pigeon beginning to rupture!
We had a fire while we were shooting, and MyKel got a little too close! Her shoes melted!!!
For Christmas Eve Eve, we went up to a friend's property to gather firewood for the wood burning stove! The next day (Christmas Eve), we spent a few hours cutting all the long pieces of wood into useable chunks. Now we can make fires whenever we want!
The final product!
This is my best friend, Maria! I have not seen her since my wedding!! It's crazy how time flies! She will be a married woman on January 6th! I'm so happy for her!
Unfortunately, Carsten did not get this for Christmas. My sister's friend brought it over to play with the kiddos! To say they were happy is an understatement!
The Johns have some fun holiday traditions! For Christmas Eve Eve, Dad John reads Christmas stories to everyone while we lay under the tree. Then, we all sleep under the tree! On Christmas Eve, we all open our Christmas Eve gift, which is a pair of pajamas to wear the next day. On Christmas morning, everyone has to wait at the top of the stairs until its time to go down and see our presents. Colby and I were very blessed with a TON of presents this year, and we are very grateful to everyone who gave us presents. Thank you!!!
My older sister gave my dad 3 CD discs of al his mission pictures. These were pictures that he never developed. Later that night we went through them. It was really fun to see my dad, so happy and remembering all the wonderful things that happened while in Germany!
His face does not do justice because he is very excited for his lightning McQueen booster seat!
We are so blessed with modern technology that we are still ale to spend the holidays with those who are not with us.
To finish off Christmas morning, we got to Skype Felicia at noon, who is on her mission at Temple Square! It was so wonderful to see her smiling face. We miss her!!
We got the Go Karts out on Saturday for some racing in the driveway!! It has snowed a bit since then, so we are hoping to ride them again today!!
Below is a video of Carsten and his Christmas present of Sullivan from Monster's Inc. He was happy sacred of it!! This video is his second reaction to his new toy because we did not know the first time that he would get scared.
So the picture below has a very funny story to go with it! Katie is holding a teeny tiny black dot used as eyes for a craft. She stuck this "eye" up her nose. It was so small we could not get out!! We tried her to get to sneeze, but she would start sniffing which made it go farther up her nose. Next, we tried getting out with tweezers, but she was freaking out even though she has no idea what tweezers are. We finally sent her off for a nap and figured it would come out someway. A little while later I caught her at the top of the stairs holding something in her fingers. She smiled triumphantly to me and said, "I did it. I sneezed!"
