Rafting in Santa Elena Canyon {3.24.16 - 3.27.16}

So this adventure goes all the way back into March. You would think I would have written about it sooner because it was such an amazing and fun trip, but...I didn't. Over Easter weekend Colby's parents and brother came out to visit good ol' Texas. While here we drove to Big Bend National Park and rafted part way through Santa Elena Canyon. We would have liked to raft the entire canyon, but the water was way too low and we had to paddle up stream. This normally isn't a big problem if you have a kayak or canoe, but we had a raft, so it was a bit more difficult. We did more pulling than paddling, but it was still a fun trip and we enjoyed every minute of it! We went about 3 miles up stream and camped for the night. Then the next day we floated back down to where we started, but we made sure to take our time (mostly because the water was extremely slow and low) and explored an amazingly scenic side canyon with very smooth white limestone. All in all, it was the trip of a lifetime!

I'm wearing a kayak spray skirt..not a loin cloth! haha
We did this a lot

Who says you need a 4 wheel drive vehicle to enjoy nature!
