Life As We Know It

Life As We Know It!

So, life is good. If you haven't already heard, Colby got an internship with Chevron and we are moving to Texas for the Summer! We are excited for this new experience; however, we are not so excited about the weather, but I'm sure with some great air conditioning and a nearby pool we will (or I will) survive! Just the other day, we secured a place to live while down there and are currently trying to find someone to rent out our apartment here in Utah for the summer. We were able to find a really great couple last summer, so we are hopeful that we will find another great couple to take care of our place while we are away.

As for other news, I am officially graduating this April. Colby and I are walking together in the ceremony even though he won't officially graduate until December. After graduation, and I mean literally right after graduation, Colby will get on a plane and fly to the Bahamas for the annual Geology field trip! And I will drive back to the most wonderful place ever, Colorado! Then, we will meet up in Vegas and drive to Cali and have a nice little break filled hopefully with Magic Mountain Amusement Park, rafting, hiking, and maybe camping with family! Then, after some vacationing we will drive back through Vegas and meet my new nephew!! He will hopefully be born by this time as we are driving through to visit. Then, off to Phoenix to visit Jaren and his family (hopefully he knows now that we are coming, since we are announcing it on our blog). Then, last but not least, we will finish our drive and arrive in Texas to spend the rest of the summer in it's unwelcoming heat! So, that's that, a timeline of our happenings, but we are happy and excited for what awaits, and I am especially excited that my sister will be somewhat close (at least closer to us than anyone else) and I know I will be seeing her every so often in the foreseeable future!

Right now, Colby and I are going through the motions of school and my internship. If you don't already know, I am an intern supervisor at the Utah Family Academy (ACAFS). I supervise divorced parents visiting with their children and make sure it is a safe environment for the children to have quality parent-child time. It is an interesting place to be and it only makes me more grateful to have the gospel in my life, because it is sad to see the many broken families that our society has today based upon poor decision making. But I am grateful for the opportunity I have to work with these children and help them achieve better relationships with their parents and transition into a different, more functional family structure.

Besides school and work, Colby and I have had some great times with family lately. We live close to a lot of family it is nice to see them every so often. But last weekend we went to Rexburg to visit all the family we have there! It was great fun and we got to meet a very precious little new addition into the Hazard family! By the way, there is also another little one on the way and if I am remembering right she will be here tomorrow or Wednesday! Anyways, it will be sometime this week! Since Rexburg is the place Colby and I met and first fell in love, on Valentine's Day we redid our first date! It was so much fun! It was fun to relive our first moments and go down "memory lane" so to speak!

Here are some random pictures of our trip!
I like all of Amri's stickers on her head!

Little Xi loves his new sister

This is where we went bouldering for our first date! Colby's shirt is a Valentine gift from me that I was told to give to Colby from Tyson!

So, Colby, Troy, Tyson, and Greg all went Cross-country skiing to Harriman Park. There were very many trails to pick from (several easy ones) , but since these are the Hazards I am talking about, they picked the hardest trail (Ridge Trail) they could do, even though none of them had been cross-country skiing in their life or they had gone only once before. But still, I would not call them advanced cross-country skiers! Needless to say, they did report back saying they had each crashed several times. But the point is they had fun!

Blessings of Family

Blessings of Family

In church I teach valiant 10 and 11 years old. This years primary theme is "Families are Forever." I am so grateful to belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is a wonderful feeling of knowing who I am, where I am going, and what I have to look forward to in life after earth. I know that The Family: A Proclamation to the World was inspired by a prophet of God because of the eternal principles that can only make us happy. I know that the Prophet Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God and receives guidance and counsel through revelation from our Heavenly Father just as in times of old. I know that Jesus Christ is the head of His church and it is through his Prophets and Apostles that he speaks, "...whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same (D&C 1:38)" I am so grateful for eternal families and that God intended for us to live forever with our families as part of His plan. I am so grateful for the Savior in my life and what he has done for me. I am so grateful to be part of a family that remembers the Lord their God.

"Rise up and follow in the footsteps of our Redeemer and Savior, and one day you will look back and be filled with eternal gratitude that you chose to trust the Atonement and its power to lift you up and give you strength." -Dieter F. Uchtdorf

A while ago we were able to see the Sacred Gifts Exhibit on the BYU campus. This is a FREE Exhibit that everyone should go to if they have the chance. The art is the original paintings of Carl Bloch, Heinrich Hofmann, and Frans Schwartz and depict the Life of the Savior. The art in the Exhibit have never been removed from their original places in churches around the world until now. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the original art from Sweden, Germany, Holland, and NYC. A few years ago BYU had a Carl Bloch only exhibit and had over 300,000 visitors and because of the success they have granted BYU another very rare opportunity to have this art from other artists and have Carl Bloch included again. Colby and I have been so blessed to be around so much family and love. We are going to miss everyone when we move to Texas for awhile, but are excited for the new adventure that awaits us. We have had so much fun getting together and hanging out with family. A couple of weeks ago we saw Greg, Nancy, Grandma and Grandpa Hazard, Jill, Madison, Andrew, Kaitlin, Hayden, Caleb, Donny, Alyssa, baby R and Courtney! Whew! Am I missing anyone? I am sorry if I am. Anyways, I wish I had pictures because we all had a blast! Madison introduced most of us to a new game called, "Heads up."  I loved it so much that I already downloaded the game and have told my side of the family all about it. I think I will be playing it a lot in the future. Thanks Madison! Speaking of family times, Donny and Alyssa spent the evening with us on Monday and we went to the ice castles! It was so much fun and I recommend it to anyone else who may be in the area. First, we went when it was light out and then an hour later we went back to see the ice castles at night. Check out the pictures! Again, I'm so grateful for family and for all of you!

Watch out for the polar Bear!

They had ice tunnels that you could crawl through and then at the top you went down an ice slide. Super fun!

Colby went too, but Donny stayed behind because he had the sleeping baby.
