John Family Reunion {9.2-5.16}

Labor day weekend, we went to the John family reunion. We had it in Dolores, CO which was a great meeting point for all the fun activities we had planned.The first day we went to Durango and enjoyed the sights and downtown. We went to the fish hatchery, Honeyville, and the train museum which was awesome! The train was my favorite part.

Fish Hatchery!

Durango's Honeyille bees!

John loved the train. He just stared at it in awe!!

Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and Museum
The next day we spent the day at Mcphee's reservoir at the beach and went boating. We rented a speed boat and enjoyed tubing and wake boarding. Unfortunately, our time on the boat was short lived due to a thunder and lightning storm, but we still had a great time! Surprisingly, the water was not too cold it was actually warm. We played boche ball on the beach and enjoyed a small fire. It was colder to be out of the water once the wind hit, so we had a great nice fire to warm us up!

The last day we had a great time at Mesa Verde National Park. The ruins are beautiful and the cliff dwellings are amazing structures. That took the most of the day. When we got back to our campground and cabin we had delicious tin foil dinners and smores.

Square Tower Dwelling. Tallest building within the ruins in the park.

Cliff Palace tour :-)

Original painting within Cliff Palace

Our tour guide is half Native American and carved the beautiful instrument in his hands. He played a beautiful tribute to the people who use to live in the Cliff Palace. His name is David Nighteagle which he explained actually meant an owl, not an eagle.
The reunion was a huge success!  We had camp fires every night, played games, roasted marshmallows, and watched family pictures and videos on the projector in the cabin. We had a blast! I can't wait for the next reunion!
Last morning together. We are packing up to make the long drive home. I wish it didn't have to end!
